LONG BEACH UNIT

Dear Official:

Greetings and Welcome to the 2011 season.  Once again our meetings will be held at Bellflower High School, 15301 McNab St., Bellflower, CA 90706.  Meeting dates are set as follows:

• Jul 26 (BBQ)
• Aug 23 (Classification Exam)
• Aug 30
• Sep 6
• Sep 13 (Make-up meeting #1)
• Sep 20
• Sep 27 (Make-up meeting #2)
• Oct 4
• Oct 11
• Oct 18 (Make-up meeting #3)

July 26 will be our annual BBQ.  The BBQ will start at 5:00 PM, with the required general meeting starting at approximately 6:30 PM.  The meeting will end around 8:00 PM. The instructional packets will be distributed during the BBQ meeting.

All other meetings will start at 7:00 PM.

NEW: For the 2011 season, returning members and officials transferring into the Long Beach Unit will be required to attend 18 hours of classroom instruction.  The BBQ meeting will count for 3 hours towards this requirement.  All other general meetings will count for 2 ½ hours of classroom instruction.

First year officials (‘Rookies’) will be required to attend 21 hours of instruction.

NEW: The banquet will be on Nov 8, 2011 at The Grand in Long Beach (same place as last year).  Officials may buy banquet tickets for the reduced cost of $10 if purchased by June 1, 2011.  Banquet tickets purchased after June 1, 2011 will be $20 (if purchased during the evening of the banquet the cost is $25 per ticket).

The Registration form is posted on the Unit’s website (www.lbfoa.org).  Your Registration Form, Dues, and request for Banquet Tickets (as noted above) MUST be received by JUNE 1, 2011.  Send your material to:

Checks (or Money Orders) should be made out to: CFOA, Long Beach Unit

You will not be assigned any games until your Registration Form and Dues have been returned.

Dues received by JUNE 1, 2011, are $55.00 (same as last year).

If received after JUNE 1, 2011, dues are $75.00 (same as last year).

NEW: Officials belonging to two Units (‘Split Members’) who expect assignments from Long Beach MUST (1) take the classification exam with the Long Beach Unit, and (2) attend at least 10 hours of the mandatory 18 hours of classroom instruction with the Long Beach Unit.

No packets will be mailed.  Members registering on or before Jul 26 may pick up their packet on that date at Bellflower High School during the BBQ meeting.  The packets will be passed out at the conclusion of the instructional program (approximately 8:00 PM).  After Jul 27, packets must be picked up at my house (5058 Premiere Ave., Lakewood, CA 90712).
