LONG BEACH UNIT

Dear Official:

Greetings and Welcome to the 2013 season.  Once again our meetings will be held at Bellflower High School, 15301 McNab St., Bellflower, CA 90706.  Meeting dates are reflected below.

DUES:  the basic Dues for 2013 will be $65.  Payment is due by 5/31/13 (postmarked). This $10 increase is the result of the CFOA raising the cost of the instructional kits by $10.

LATE FEE: if paid on 6/01/13 or later, Dues for 2013 will be $95 ($30 ‘late fee’).

CREW DUES: if an official is a member of a Long Beach crew, that official must pay their Dues by 6/30/13 (postmarked).  If not, that official is removed from their crew.

GENERAL MEETING DATES: the following Dates were established for the 2013 General Meetings:

• 7/23 (BBQ)
• 8/13
• 8/20 (Classification Exam)
• 8/27 (Make-up Classification Exam)
• 9/03
• 9/10 (Nominations for Board)
• 9/17 (DARK; NO MEETING)
• 9/24 (Elections)
• 10/01
• 10/08
• 10/15

ALL 10 meetings are considered ‘General’ meetings.  To be Qualified, an official must receive 18 hours of instruction (21 hours for 1^st year officials).  Each meeting above, except for the BBQ, will count for 2.5 hours of instruction.  The BBQ meeting counts as 3 hours of instruction.

REGISTRATION FORM: The Registration form is posted on the Unit’s website (www.lbfoa.org).  Your Registration Form, Dues, and request for Banquet Tickets (as explained below) MUST be received on or before May 31, 2013.  Send your material to:

Checks (or Money Orders) should be made out to: CFOA, Long Beach Unit

You will not be assigned any games until your Registration Form and Dues have been returned.

BANQUET: the 2013 Banquet will be held on November 5, 2013.  As with last year, you can purchase your banquet tickets at the same time you submit your Registration Form and Dues for the 2013 season.

BANQUET TICKETS:  prices for the banquet tickets are as follows:

• $10 if paid on or before 5/31/13;
• $20 if paid between 6/01/13 and 11/04/13;
• $25 if paid at the door during the evening of the banquet

SPLIT MEMBERS: Officials belonging to two Units (‘Split Members’) who expect assignments from Long Beach MUST (1) take the classification exam with the Long Beach Unit, and (2) attend at least 10 hours of the mandatory 18 hours of classroom instruction with the Long Beach Unit.

MANDATORY UNIFORM: the long black football pants with white strip are mandatory for all Long Beach officials on Varsity games.

No packets will be mailed.  Members registering on or before July 23 may pick up their packet on that date at Bellflower High School during the BBQ meeting.  The packets will be passed out at the conclusion of the instructional program (approximately 8:00 PM).  After July 23, packets must be picked up at my house (5058 Premiere Ave., Lakewood, CA 90712).
