LBFOA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
 



PROGRAM:  Establishes a scholarship program for members of the LBFOA.


ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all qualified LBFOA members


CAMPS:  Any recognized camp, such as "Personal Touch", Reno, Las Vegas, Fresno or El Paso.


BUDGET:  $500 (donated by Jack Huntsinger).  If successful, the Unit may establish additional scholarships with general funds (maximum $500 per scholarships).

THE PROCESS:
 
  • Interested members must complete application and submit by deadline (usually last regular meeting)
  • Scholarship Committee, consisting of three (3) members, established to review applications and select winner(s)
  • Scholarship Committee will have approximately two (2) weeks to meet and select winner(s)
  • Winner(s) announced at annual banquet and presented with a plaque
     
  • Award money is to be used during the next camp "season" (i.e. scholarship(s) awarded in 2007 must be used in 2008)
  • Winner(s) must pay all up-front costs associated with camp, will then be reimbursed for cost of tuition (maximum of $500).  Camper(s) must submit proof of tuition and attendance.
  • Winner(s) presented with a plaque at annual banquet
  • Money to be used for tuition only.  If tuition exceeds $500 limit, camper is responsible for balance.
  • Any travel and lodging costs are responsibility of camper
  • If winner cannot attend camp, runner-up can then go.
  • No restrictions on number of times a member can be awarded a scholarship
